FAQ’s

How do you work?

I work in a casual relaxed manner and I try to match my energy to that of my subjects. So if you have kids or dogs running around I’ll be in the action. We can keep it low key or if you are more confident I can bring along some lighting too.

Although I shoot mostly on digital cameras I do love to get out the real film cameras too. So I’ll make sure to shoot some 35mm and 120 film and edit these together with the digital images using some techniques like double exposures.

how long do you stay?

Sessions usually take between 1 and 2 hours but i’ll stay as long as the light is good and the mood is high.

how many photos will we get?

At least 30, but it depends on the weather, subjects and location.

How long until we receive our photos?

I aim to get everything edited and delivered in under a month.

how do we receive our photos?

I’ll send you a link to an online gallery (valid for 6 months). From here, you can download the files for free.

when do we need to pay you?

Payment for family shoots are made in full before they take place.

Do you have public liability insurance?

Yep, I’m insured up to £5 million public liability. If your venue needs a copy of my liability insurance then just let me know.

what happens if your camera breaks on the day?

Accidents can happen, I shoot with two digital cameras and also have an extra back up camera just in case. I also shoot to more than one memory card and back up photos to a MacBook during your mealtime, just for some added security.

what about prints?

If you’d like me to provide some larger prints or framed prints I can do that too! Just ask me and I can quote for those.

how long will my photos be available for online?

I will keep your photos in the online gallery for six months, after that they will be backed up and stored locally.

Where are you based?

South Manchester, just off the M56

How far do you travel for family photography sessions?

I don’t charge travel expenses for shoots up to a 30 mile round trip from South Manchester. I am happy to travel further afield though although additional mileage is charged at 45p per mile. I don’t have a fixed distance I’m willing to travel – it depends on your specific needs.

Where will our shoot take place?

Your family photography session will take place on location. This may be at your home, at a nearby park or on a woodland walk. I believe family photography is all about telling stories and having fun so I’m happy to work at any location that allows me to capture your unique story (as long as there are no photographic restrictions).

What if we need to postpone or cancel our session?

Portrait photography sessions, or any fixed cost discount packages that include additional products are payable at the time of booking. If there are extenuating circumstances that mean you need to postpone our agreed session (for example if your child is ill) then I’ll work with you to reschedule for another time when we can all enjoy the session and capture the best images.

Should we bring anything to the shoot?

If your child has a favourite toy that can help them feel more relaxed and give us something to talk about. Depending on where we shoot, any toy or game that encourages play would be great to bring with you. If we’re shooting outside please make sure everyone’s dressed appropriately for the conditions.

What should I wear?

It’s best to keep things simple and avoid bold patterns or large logos. Hats or other accessories can sometimes help to mix things up too! The most important thing is that everyone is wearing something they feel comfortable in.

How do I make a booking?

To book a portrait session, gift voucher or package get in touch with details of what you need and I’ll get back to you to firm up the details. Portrait photography sessions, gift vouchers and fixed cost discount packages are payable at the time of booking.
