Amy & Julian’s Wedding at Home in Rearsby
It’s always a nice feeling being asked back by a family. I first met Amy at her sister Evie’s wedding to Matt last summer, a day full of dancing and one of the most fun family groups I’ve photographed. So when Amy got in touch about her own wedding at their family home in Rearsby, I knew it was going to be something special.
The day was relaxed from the start. Amy got ready in the house she grew up in, surrounded by her sisters. Makeup was by @sianrev_bridal, who kept things natural and calm in the usual pre-ceremony chaos. Meanwhile, Julian was out in the garden welcoming guests, looking sharp but chilled.
The ceremony took place on the lawn outside the main doors, with flowers by @whitegooseflowerfarm. Wild, colourful, and beautifully unstructured. You could tell straight away how much the setting meant to them. There were no formalities for the sake of it, just a personal ceremony in a space full of memories.
I shot a mix of digital and film throughout the day, including medium format on Kodak Portra, which really suited the warm tones of the garden and those quiet in-between moments. The Portra film added something extra to the portraits, especially later in the day as the sun started to dip.
After the ceremony, there were drinks, speeches and a proper knees-up in the marquee. One of the things I love about home weddings is how naturally everything flows. No one’s rushing. People spread out across the garden, take their time, and the photos happen almost without people noticing.
It was great to work alongside @memoriesofamorefilms, really thoughtful, discreet filming that captured the feel of the day perfectly.
And of course, seeing Evie and Matt again this time as guests was a highlight. It was really satisfying documenting another chapter for the same family.
Amy and Julian’s day was full of warmth, honesty, and laughter. Nothing flashy. Just a couple who clearly adore each other, celebrating with their favourite people in a place that already felt like home.
If you’re planning a wedding at home, or somewhere that means something to you and you want it captured in a way that feels real, I’d love to be part of it.
